Dyson, Freeman J. (1923-) -- from Eric Weisstein's World of Scientific Biography

English-American physicist who did important work in quantum electrodynamics

with the powerful mathematical techniques of Schwinger. He also wrote a number of articles considering the possibility of extraterrestrial civilizations.

A quote due to Dyson which simultaneously captures the excitement and drudgery of scientific research is "Anger is creative; depression is useless" (Dyson 1979, p. 26).
